Kingfisher Airlines, Kingfisher, IndiGo Hires 35 Pilots, From Kingfisher Airlines, Kingfisher Air Lines

IndiGo hires 35 Kingfisher Airlines pilots over past eight months

MUMBAI: Budget carrier IndiGo has hired 35 pilots from rival Kingfisher Airlines over the past six to eight months, sources told ET.

Gurgaon-based IndiGo, which kicked off its expansion plans with one of the largest aircraft orders in the industry earlier this year, is looking to hire aggressively. The hired pilots are said to be senior in rank, operating Kingfisher's ATR and A320 fleet.

At least half of them are from Kingfisher' ATR fleet (turboprop aircraft with 60-70 seats capacity).

"We have a requirement of 700-800 pilots over the next five years," IndiGo said in a reply to a mail sent to it over the issue. One of the pilots from Kingfisher said: "IndiGo has promised pilots from Kingfisher a command position within a fixed time on its A320 type and will impart conversion training from small aircraft to single-aisle A320."

India's aviation sector does not allow poaching and pilots must serve a six-month notice to their employer before moving on to anew assignment.

But industry sources said airlines have been cross hiring over the past one-year, as some airlines, such as Vijay Mallya-promoted Kingfisher, are expanding slowly while some struggling ones, such as Air India, have pilots scouting for jobs. Such pilots serve as a good resource for the fast-growing domestic aviation sector that is grappling with a shortage of trained pilots.

Some pilots from Kingfisher and Air India have requested the sector regulator to do away with the compulsory notice period to facilitate easier movement. According to a recent report by research and analysis body Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation , India will need at least 90,000 crew, including pilots, to steer its aviation growth over the next 20 years.

The sector is currently growing at 18%. Aircraft maker Boeing has forecast a $150-billion market for 1,320 new passenger airplanes in India over the next 20 years. Domestic air traffic growth through 2014-15 is forecast to touch 16.7% per annum.

Saamna Slams Shahrukh, Party During Mumbai Blasts, Shivsena, SRK, Indecency, Inhumane, Mumbai News

MUMBAI: Saamna, the Sena mouthpiece, has slammed actor Shah Rukh Khan for hosting a party at his Bandra residence on July 13, when serial bomb blasts ripped through the city.

In a front page report on Sunday, Saamna stated Khan organized the party to commemorate the release of Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara. Stating that Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol, Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal and other Bollywood personalities attended the Khan do which went on till the wee hours of Thursday morning, the newspaper stated that the party has exposed Khan. "His true face which is that of a villain has come out before the world," the paper remarked.

"Nearly 19 innocent people died in the multiple blasts inMumbai while hundreds of Mumbaikars were injured. Many of them are still battling for life and the city is in a state of shock. Despite this, Khan threw a party on Wednesday night and proved that he has nothing to do with Mumbai's grief," Saamna added.

Pointing out that many Mumbaikars cancelled their anniversary and birthday bashes in the wake of the tragedy that struck Mumbai, the mouthpiece reminded its readers that Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan cancelled a special function hosted by the French government to felicitate her. "However, Khan did not show the decency and the humanity to cancel his party," the newspaper said.

The newspaper added Khan paid lip service to Mumbai by commenting on the blast on Twitter and then threw a party at 'Mannat', his Bandra residence. The Sena daily claimed that Khan has been condemned by his fans across the country.

TRAI, 4G Auction Process, 4G Spectrum Auction, 4G Services, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India

Trai speeds up 4G auction process
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has identified at least six blocks of 20 MHz spectrum each which can be auctioned to telecom companies for offering 4G services.
4G enables data speeds of 5-12 mbps on mobiles and is many times faster than 3G.
The spectrum identified includes the 700 Mhz band as well as the 2.5-2.6 gigahertz band. This means the government will be able to offer 4G spectrum to eight companies, leading to tough competition.
This exercise is part of Trai's plan to come out with recommendations on 4G auctions by October. A consultation paper on the road map is expected by August.
Two spectrum blocks in the 2,300 Mhz band have already been given for broadband wireless access (BWA) - with Reliance Industries getting a pan-India licence in collaboration with the HFCL group.
There are around 12 2G players and five 3G players per circle.
The 4G road map which Trai is working on envisages allowing voice-over-internet telephony between mobile and landline networks.
At present, internet calls are allowed between PC and PC, but without any connectivity to a PSTN network.
Permitting voice-over-internet calls will open a new market, especially for companies such as Reliance Industries, which have bought a pan-India BWA licence but cannot offer voice calls until they tie up with a 2G operator.
At present, they can offer only data services.

Indian Origin Girl, Shree Bose, Grand Prize, Google Science Fair, Ovarian Cancer, Google Science Honour

Indian- origin girls bag Google science honour

An Indian- origin girl has developed a solution to the resistance of ovarian cancer cells to chemotherapy, bagging a grand prize at the first ever Google science fair.
A total of 15 students were selected for the final round and three girls were announced victorious as the search giant said it was ‘all about girl power’. Two of the three are Indians based in the US. Shree Bose, a high school student, won the grand prize of $ 50,000 ( Rs 22 lakh) scholarship and a trip to the Galápagos Islands with a National Geographic explorer as well as an internship at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).
She researched on ways to improve treatment of ovarian cancer after the cancerous cells develop certain resistance to chemotherapy. Through her study, she concluded that AMP kinase, an energy protein of cells, plays a role in the development of resistance. Bose completed her research under Dr. Alakanada Basu, University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
Another winner Naomi Shah in the age group of 15 to 16 years devised a model to show that improvement of indoor environment can reduce people’s dependence on asthma medications.
The third winner — Lauren Hodge in the age group 13- 14 — studied the effects of different marinades on the level of potentially harmful carcinogens in grilled chicken.

NRTIs Damage, DNA in Mitochondria, NRTIs Drugs, HIV AIDS, Cause Premature Aging, Dementia, Heart Diseases

AIDS Drugs Linked to Premature Aging, Dementia, and Heart Disease: A study recently published in the journal Nature Geneticsexplains that nucleoside analog reverse-transcriptase inhibitors, or NRTIs, which are drugs used primarily in Africa and other developing regions of the world to treat HIV and AIDS, are responsible for causing heart disease, dementia, premature aging, and other age-related illnesses.
(NaturalNews) A study recently published in the journal Nature Geneticsexplains that nucleoside analog reverse-transcriptase inhibitors, or NRTIs, which are drugs used primarily in Africa and other developing regions of the world to treat HIV and AIDS, are responsible for causing heart disease, dementia, premature aging, and other age-related illnesses.
Scientists observed that the chemical compounds in NRTIs damage DNA in patients' mitochondria, which are the power producers for cells. When these important structural elements become harmed or destroyed, they are unable to produce energy for cells, which can lead to a host of health problems and eventually death.

Social Networking Sites, Social Networks, Microsoft Social Networking Site, Tulalip, Social Network

Socl.com, which was discovered on Thursday, first displayed a welcoming message announcing a new social networking offering called “Tulalip”, which read: “With Tulalip you can find what you need and share what you know easier than ever.” Tulalip is the name of an Indian tribe in Washington. Fake login buttons for Facebook and Twitter appeared on the upper right hand side of the socl.com landing page.

Microsoft’s social networking teaser is gone for now.  When clicking on the socl.com website a message is displayed from Microsoft explaining: “Thanks for stopping by. Socl.com is an internal design project from a team in Microsoft Research which was mistakenly published to the web. We didn’t mean to, honest.”
If you woke up this morning thinking, there just aren’t enough social networking sites to choose from, you’re in luck, because this week a home page for what seems to be a social networking site for Microsoft was found, prompting industry observers to speculate it is getting ready to launch a better social networking offering than Google+.
