Sawan Mahina 2011 from July 16 chant Om namah shivaya. The auspicious Hindu month, Sawanalso known as Shravan month or Shravana masam, has begun on July 16. The auspicious Hindu month has begun on July 16 Sunday.

With starting the month of Shravan, a large number of devotees in India thronged to Shiva temples to worship lord Shiva ( The Hindu god Shiva is said to be the destroyer of the ego). We will see in this month devotees reaching the temples chanting ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ and ‘Bum Bum Bhole’ and offering prayers at Shiva temples. This month is dispatched with the auspocious religious festivals and ceremonies and almost all the days of this maas are auspicious. Specially, shravan somwar ( all Mondays in Shravan month) are most auspicious, which are dedicated to God Shiva. There will be four somwar’s in this Shravanmonth. The Shavan month will concludes with the Raksha Bandhan festival or Rakhi festival on August 13, 2011.
