Patna High Court Orders, Bihar Government, Appoint Lecturers, Patna High Court, State Universities

A division bench of the court comprising Justices P C Verma and A Amanullah directed the Principal Secretary of state human resources and Chancellor secretariat to sort out difference over the report on rationalisation of vacancies of lecturers in different universities of the state and initiate the process of appointment of lecturers within next three months.

The bench issued the order on hearing public interest petition filed by Binay Kumar Singh seeking directive to the state government for appointment of lecturers in various universities in Bihar.

During the hearing, counsels of universities had pleaded before the court that appointments of lecturers were not being done due to ban imposed by the state government. Counsel of the state government informed the court that rationalisation report on vacancies of the post of lecturers in universities had been prepared and the same was sent to Chancellor for approval.

The Chancellor had constituted a committee to go through the report which identified 3019 vacant posts of lecturers in various universities in Bihar. There were some points of differences between the observation of the rationalisation report between the committee constituted by Chancellor and the state government.

The court directed the Chancellor and Bihar government to sort out the differences on rationalisation report and initiate the process of appointment of teachers in three months. UNI
