Kailash added that every time he is in Kolkata, he feels that he is part of a festival. "People look so happy. The women here are so beautiful, even trees look full of life," he added. Talking about things on his workfront, he couldn't help recall his performace for "Coke Studio". "I was immensely busy with " Little Champs" that left me with no time to prepare myself. I pressed the panic button seeing musicians prepare so well for their acts.
Kailash Kher, who was in Kolkata last week for a performance at the Netaji Indore Stadium, said he feels connected to the city. "Jab log baatein karte hain, lagta hai ki woh mithai baat rahein ho," he said.

Andhra Pradesh (DLN): Andhra Pradesh Department of Technical Education has issued revised schedule for CEEP 2011 exercising options. Candidates from Rank 1 to 50000 of Telangana Districts, who could not exercise their options, are informed to exercise their options on 7-8 July 2011.

It is informed that Certificate Verification scheduled on 5-6 July 2011 for candidates attending at Help Line Centres of Telangana Districts only has been changed.

Candidates from Rank No. 60001 to 85000 have to attend on 10th July 2011 and candidates from Rank No. 85001 to 110000 have to attend on 11th July 2011. All these candidates have to exercise their options on 11-12 July 2011. No change is made in schedule for all other candidates. All candidates can change their options if so desired on 13th July 2011.

A village in northern India has changed its name from that of a god to SnapDeal.com Nagar. The tiny town had good reason to, because SnapDeal, India’s version of Groupon, provided it with fresh water.

SnapDeal’s founder Kunal Bahl wanted to do something good with his company’s burgeoning profits, so likeBill Gates and his philanthropic efforts, the 28-year-old CEO looked for an opportunity where he could have the most bang for the buck.

His answer? Water. He found out that a mere $5,000 would install 15 hand pumps that would make it so the villagers wouldn’t have to walk nearly two miles just to get clean water. The result was life-changing, Bahl told CNN.

The villagers were so grateful for the SnapDeal.com-branded pumps distributed throughout the city, they decided to change the name of their village, formerly known as Shiv Nagar (named after the Hindu god Shiva), to SnapDeal.com Nagar.

Bangalore: Finally, the long wait ended on Thursday. Students started lapping up government quota engineering seats as the Common Entrance Test (CET) counselling had a nail-biting start at seven centres across the state.

Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), that conducts the test and seat selection sessions, has declared 73,168 students eligible for engineering seats this year. On Thursday — the first day of counselling — CET candidates who have secured ranks from 1 to 1,600 were called for seat selection under the general merit category.

Note that the total number of engineering seats available to CET candidates is 47,697 in 188 colleges. This year, 83,489 engineering seats are available in the state in total.

KEA said all engineering seats in the Electronics and Communications stream that were available for CET students under the general merit category were taken on Thursday.

Initially, the engineering counselling was scheduled to begin on June 27, but the state government was forced to postpone it by 10 days to Thursday, as the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) delayed sending approvals for engineering courses. State higher education minister VS Acharya visited the KEA cell in Malleswaram in the morning when the counselling kicked off and addressed the session.

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Technological University(GTU) has postponed the dates for admission to Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Computer Applications (MCA) courses. The admission process for these courses which were scheduled to begin from July 8 has been postponed to July 18. The process has been postponed as the results of examinations for the Bachelor of Engineering (BE) students conducted last year in various universities in the state has not been declared yet.

The eligibility for admission to MBA and MCA programmes are based on the marks scored by students in the GujCET (Gujarat Common Entrance Test) examination. However, the admission process has been postponed as students whose average score in their BE final examination are less than 50 percent are not eligible for MBA and MCA courses. An official at GTU said, "If it turns out that any student has failed or scored less than 50 percent in their engineering examinations, then their admissions will have to be cancelled . It will be a long process and create chaos. So the best idea was to postpone the admissions till the BE results are declared." The BE results are expected to be declared in around a week.
